Dan Salter grew up in the automotive industry. His father, Dallas, came to Delaware in 1961 and established business S&J Flying "A" Sinclair gas and service station on Kirkwood highway 1966. Dan was born and raised in New Castle. He became an ASE certified technician after serving in the USNR from 1980-1986. Dan was trained by the US Navy as an airplane mechanic. He helped and learned a lot from his father, and other establishments in Delaware, which contributed to his mechanical knowledge. He also employs skills from airplanes and hydraulics attained in the military. In high school, he took a metal shop class. There, he learned how to use a lathe, a mill, and other machine shop equipment and measure close tolerances. Although the industry has changed. Much pride goes into the work completed. Dan retains a special ability to build custom transmissions when necessary.
Dan opened his business as Pro-Trans, Inc. in 1988. Over the years with industry standard changes, the business has added equipment, more ASE certified technicians, and other various auto services. The logo changed adding total car care in 2005. Today, the new name that stresses the point “We do it All.”-- from Tires to Transmissions. We try hard to stand out from other general automotive centers. With our ability to diagnose, and perform in car repairs, to transmission, and the complicated computer controlled electrical systems. With a vast knowledge of drive trains and their components, we specialize in these repairs. Acquiring many relationships with a huge number of today's leading transmission and drive train re manufacturing facility's including, Jasper, Certified, ETE, ATR, RMP, Precision European, and Transtar, along with many others.. We can offer fast turn around. accompanied with a 3 year, 100,000 and Unlimited Mileage Warranties.
We offer state of the art equipment like Motor Vac flush machines, Hunter Hawk Eye computerized laser alignment. Tire service for up to 28" and a shop full of other state of the art equipment. Our staff are ASE Master and certified technicians who can handle all of you automotive needs. Most of our repairs come with a standard 2 year 24,000 mile warranty. We have been or are current members of organizations in the industry like, ASA, ATSG, ATRA, DASP and AASP. We enjoy membership in the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.. WE are also members in Good Standing with the BBB and have a A+ rating. We have a continued commitment to our surrounding community and have been involved for many years by Sponsoring Athletic teams, including youth baseball and softball, local high school organizations. New Castle county adult Softball teams, both men and co- rec. We help support many organizations like The Newark Symphony Orchestra with advertising. But most of all, the main thing we became known for, is our great customer service, and ability to create lasting friendships and relations with our customers.
